About The Book

Whispers from the Chinars is a fictional novel set in Kashmir and it comes from my long familiarity with the place and the stories that remain with people long after they are told. I wrote this book from what I have observed and felt in ordinary settings where relationships grow complicated, duties and desires often pull in different directions, and the decisions made in youth can influence the rest of one’s life.
The characters are imagined, though what they experience reflects situations and emotions that many readers will recognise from their own journeys. The story gives time to the private side of people’s lives and to the pressures that guide their behaviour even when nothing is spoken aloud. My intention was to present these lives with honesty and warmth so the reader can feel close to them while reading. If you find a moment or feeling here that seems familiar to you, then the book has reached its aim

About The Author

The author is a young writer from Kashmir who began writing out of personal interest and regular practice. Most of the ideas come from what the author has seen and felt while growing up. The stories focus on people and relationships and on the emotional side of ordinary situations. Whispers from the Chinars is one of the author’s early works and reflects this simple approach to storytelling
